"From Rags to Riches"

Updated: Sep 30

OK, maybe a bit dramatic (me?🤭🤣) but this is the story of how I got to where I am now. Running an established and successful business!

Let me share my journey with you:

2015 - I temporarily took leave from my job managing a team of underwriters to go on maternity leave/bring my daughter into the world

2016 - I was made redundant from said job after 14 years due to a company buy out. I trained as a Market Researcher and did some ad-hoc work whilst enjoying some bonus time with my girl

2017 - I started a new position in a part time role

2018 - I became a single parent. Cue a bit of a rocky year!

2019 - I became stronger and had settled into a groove with my daughter. I was head hunted for my dream job, but I was unable to accept due to the logistics of school runs, childcare and being a solo parent for a large chunk of the time

2020 - lockdown! I started working from home. I loved it and realised I didn’t want to go back to office life. I also became the strongest version of me emotionally (thanks to some counselling and amazing friends and family) and physically (thanks to Joe Wicks - IYKYK!) I knew that life needed to change, mostly in order to regain my confidence as a working mum, but also to set an example to my daughter. You have to go out to get what you want - it won't just come to you!

2021 - I started up Virtually Assisting You. Originally as a side hustle, but it grew very quickly into my career. I became fully booked within 2 months, which is still one of my best achievements! I then left employment to become a full time freelancer (best decision ever!)

2022 - I decided to refocus, retrain and invest in both myself and my business. Cue offering admin support and Social Media services! I also got married two days before Christmas 🎄😍

2023 - With a thriving, but still growing business, I continued to invest further in my online marketing skills. I also took on an associate to help out with some of my client work

2024 - Earlier this year I won my two biggest clients to date, and expanded my services into helping neurodivergent business owners. I am also training in Meta Ads, which I will be in a position to offer my clients very soon (so watch this space!)

I really do love what I do ❤️ I have fantastic loyal, clients - some of which have been with me since day one.

Starting my business was a dream come true, and I still have 'pinch me' moments now. I don't think the novelty will ever wear off!
